I am now working on the Arizona Diamondbacks Top 20 Prospects for 2013 list. The next team in line is the New York Yankees, to be followed by the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago White Sox, Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers, and Philadelphia Phillies.
Use this thread to discuss the future of the New York Yankees system. Some potential points for discussion:
***The team looked really old in the playoffs, and the injuries to Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera should remind us exactly how old the core of the team is. Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira have huge contracts and aren't getting younger. Robinson Cano will require a pretty penny to pass up free agency.
***With all these factors in mind, how do you ensure that this team remains competitive in the coming years, given that the farm system looks rather thin right now?
***True or False: the Yankees won't reach the playoffs in 2013.
***Where is the impact pitching? Jose Campos and Manny Banuelos got hurt, Dellin Betances went backwards, and Brett Marshall, while a decent prospect, doesn't look anything like a future ace. What would you do to bring more pitching into the organization? Would you emphasize this in the 2013 draft?
***As always, feel free to discuss any sleepers you like.
