Minnesota Twins Preliminary Prospect List for 2013

Here is a list of Minnesota Twins prospects under consideration for inclusion in the 2013 Baseball Prospect Book.

I have 57 names here. There are about 10 other guys I looked at also in the first run. I need to cut this down to 40 players, which means a culling of the Grade C guys is necessary.

One of the hardest parts about writing the book is picking between marginal players. The best prospects in the system are usually obvious. I love the low-level sleepers who might pan out, but I am also loathe to exclude someone who could reach the majors in 2013 even if they just project as role players. I also have a bias for guys on the 40-man roster even if they are marginal.

Once I get this culled down, the serious research begins...tapping sources, looking at the detailed stats, etc.. Names can still be added (or subtracted) at any point, depending on what I discover during research of course. You're getting to see how the sausage is made.

There are two screens I use in the initial step, a performance/statistical screen, and a scouting/tools screen. The best prospects of course qualify on both accounts, but the marginal names are either guys with strong stats who deserve a look despite blah scouting reports, or guys with blah stats but intriguing scouting reports.
