MLB Bonus Baby Primer

New, 1 comment

Since I know a lot of you are fairly new to my writing and what I do at MLB Bonus Baby, I thought I'd give a quick summary of what I offer.

First, I use Twitter. This is the main resource I use for live game updates, news, etc. Follow me if you like to follow the games I'm attending with live scouting info.

Another thing that I'm almost embarrassed about is that there is an MLB Bonus Baby Facebook page. Friend it.

Now that we have the two mainstream things out of the way, on to the interesting stuff.

This year I'm starting a new publication called the 2010 MLB Draft Notebook. Check out the link to see what's involved, but a quick summary is that it's a book in PDF form containing writeups on the top 750 players for the upcoming draft, and it's due to be released the weekend before the draft. Team-by-team draft previews will also be included, as well as some features to be named. It will be sent directly to your e-mail inbox when released.

You can pre-order the Draft Notebook, and it's only $9.99. I'm only looking to break even with all the expenses involved with the project, so I wanted to make the price as reasonable as possible. Pre-ordering gets you first in line for delivery, and that could easily be the week before the draft if I'm happy with all the editing. You will also get invited to an all questions answered thread exclusively for pre-orders the week before the draft.

Speaking of editing, I'm still seeking editors for the Draft Notebook. This isn't to say that many of the people that have already applied aren't qualified. I simply want to give everyone a fair chance at applying if they want to be involved. I'll likely pick 2 or 3 of those I consider best in terms of a combination of their skills and availability. You get editing credit in the Notebook, so your name will end up on the computer screens of all those who end up buying the product. I can't promise anything more than that, other than a fun time and a preview of what is to come with the Notebook.

The team draft previews I spoke of in the Draft Notebook will be updated versions of the previews I've already posted on every single MLB team. You can find links to every single team's early season preview in that link, so check it out.

I also have the draft order completely updated through the first four rounds, and I'll be posting the updated 2011 draft order by the current season standings as we get further into the season.

One final thing that's handy for those that are new to scouting terms is the short scouting glossary I created earlier this year. It doesn't cover everything, and I'll probably be posting similar stories from time-to-time, as I know that I'm prone to falling into scouting jargon. It's a bad habit I try to keep out for the most part, but it's also good for people to learn so that they can intelligently talk scouting if they come across a scout that's willing to talk.

I think that's about all for now, so once again, thanks for visiting the new MLB Bonus Baby, and I look forward to a great draft year in 2010!
