FINAL Community Prospect List (+ Honorable Mention Results)

I'd like to start by giving shout-outs to everybody who made this possible: Brickhaus for starting us off until he got bored and started screwing off; whoever thought of this originally back at midseason before Brickhaus stole their idea, I forget who that was and it doesn't matter; myself of course; daveh and BaseballBrain for filling in the gaps; and Havok for bringing it home.

I'd also like to thank all of you little people out there who voted and participated in the discussions; this wouldn't have been possible without you.  Well, it would have - in fact the list probably would have been better if nobody had participated but me - but we have to say that.  I personally think that we made a pretty good list, except maybe toward the end; that we all (hopefully) learned some things; and that if nothing else, we had some good arguments.

In fact, I'm pretty sure of that last item. Here's the final list.

Thanks
Thanks to all of you who kept the lists going.  Well done, and interesting discussions.

definitely enjoyed the whole list
Thanks for doing this whole thing. The question is, what the hell do we do now? Can we have a Bottom 100 Prospects, just to drive Sabernar over the edge?

Thanks to All
As a member of this online community, I would like to thank everyone for helping this site function with the hits we all produce everyday. This list is just a product of how much fun and knowledge this site brings us all everyday. Thanks for all the input on a controversial and exciting process.

Thanks
Thanks to all involved.  I enjoyed following the list and witnessing all the chaos when my fellow Mets fans voted Humber too high =).  Good work, guys.

I didn't know.....
that you had to be a midget in order to vote?

I'd also like to thank all of you little people out there who voted

I'm sorry, I hope I didn't skew the results.

John's Take
It's be real interesting to see what John has to say about the list.

At the Plate
Our list was mentioned on today's 'Rookie' page at the attheplate.com site and is listed on the 'Top 100s' page at the same site.  We're famous!

i dig that.
i've used that site since i got into prospects last year; i feel like a star when we show up there.  (he posted the midseason list too.)

JDM is now doing position-by-position breakdowns of the duelling top-100 lists, including ours: starting with catchers today.

hahaha
I love how Philip Humber's name is even listed as "Humper" on the site. I guess that's the eternal damnation he receives for the ballot-stuffing by Mets fans -- to go by a name that sounds more like something I'd call my dog than a top pitching prospect.

more Thanks
I voted in almost all of them.  Its a good list and I'm glad I was a part of it.  Thanks to everyone that organized and participated.

what a
senseless fanboy driven list. Barton #38?  Paramlee 70?  Betences so high?  Pence over Pie?

by nms on Feb 8, 2007 6:24 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Not sure I agree
Not sure there are enough Stros or Twins fans on here to drive up the stocks of Pence or Parmalee...

Of course, maybe I'm missing sarcasm or something...

Gripes
Eric Patterson?

Eric Campbell?

That's the highest I've seen Lubanski.

Cesar Carrillo (I bet he has TJ within the next three months).

I'm anxious to hear how Tabata ended up ahead of Martinez.

Go back
Look at those polls and you'll see why.  There was a LOT of argument on those two.  Basically, I think that more people probably like Martinez better, but most of the people who like him better were voting for other people because they're also the people who are more risk averse (and thus voting for more established players).  Seems like people generally like Tabata's bat better though.

by Brickhaus on Feb 9, 2007 1:41 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I like Tabata's bat and discipline better....
....power is the last thing to develop, so Im not really paying much attention to FMart's advantage in that area...I recognize that its there, but for a 17-year-old, it doesn't matter as much as good discipline....(see: Guzman, Joel)....

Good job
Thanks for sharing the list and thanks to all the voters.

One thing this shows me when you put the HM in with it is how underrated Jair Jurrjens really is.

Wily Mo
I'm a "whoever thought of this ...."? Just for that I'm not drafting you until the 10th round you bastard!!! LOL
Dukes is Jurastically better than Bradley. After all Dukes has been playing baseball ever since T-ball.

Thanks for all the great work!
Hello everyone,

Thanks to everyone who helped make the Top 100 and Top 20 HMs possible - greatly appreciated.  I learned much about evaluating prospects, as well as a general idea about who ranks where and who ranks above/below whom.

Thanks again and keep up the great work!

Take care and have a great day!

The "cream of the crop" doesn't always rise to the top.
