Juan Gonzalez signs with Yankees?

Sorry guys because I know some of you don't like non-minor league related news/stats/etc., but on another message board, someone posted this article

http://www.vocero.com/noticiasum.asp?id=11112

saying that the Yankees signed Juan Gonzalez (2 years, 2 million).  But I'm not sure of the validity because it was written at 1 PM Friday and it hasn't been announced by ESPN/Yankees/Rotoworld/etc. and that Gonzalez probably couldn't get more than a minor league deal.

But on the other side, they have a Cashman quote so it does look real.  Anyone know?

Ok
Does Cashman try to piss us off?  He must me thinking "Well I haven't wasted any money yet this offseason, lets go sign a 40 year old."

But I think it BS.

I wouldn't trust that link
If it's not posted on rotoworld, it's not true period

I think it's fake
I just read the last paragraph.
"También coincidió con el Día de los Santos Inocentes que precisamente se celebra hoy y por el cual le extendemos nuestras felicidades."

Also, it coincides with the Day of the Innocent Saints (Spanish April Fool's Day), which is celebrated today, and of which brings much happiness.

This is clearly a false rumor
IMHO.

2 year deal? Come on, this is clearly a joke.

Funny
But think, the Yankees signed an older player (Clemens) for what, 18 million last year.
So Gonzalez would just be a drop in the bucket. Besides, with Clemens gone, they need another suspected steroid user on the team.

heh
this reminds me of the joe sheahan quip from the winter meetings:
Scene: Cal Ripken, Steve Finley and Jim Leyritz are sitting on a couch in the Opryland hotel.

Observer: "All that's missing is Brian Sabean and a pen."

(rimshot)
Although now you'd probably have to add a bail bondsman to the recipe... :\
