Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Luke Scott

Luke Scott is absolutely tearing up ST and has seemingly one a spot on the 25-man.  Thoughts...

Star-divide

Scott was aquired along with Willy Taveras for Jeroime Roberston during ST last year.  At the time he almost seemed like a bit of a throw in, but he might even get a starting job with Berkman out, depending on how the Burke/Taveras/Biggio issue works out.

He's a left handed stick that can play the corners and CF with a Berkman type range (only if needed).

Does he make the club?  How do you project him short and long term?

Hey Fred. Didn't know you were a member here.

I don't think it's unreasonable to project Scott to hit around .260/.340/.480 this year. He has shown good plate discipline at every stop with some power. The only thing that has stopped him from advancing quicker have been injuries.

Long term, I see him more as a 4th OF type.

Scott Predictions
First, the papers and comments from Garner indicate that he'll be in LF for the first pitch on Opening Day.

I'd love to hear what John Sickels has to say about him though.

I see him as a Burnitz type, but with a little better avg. and obp...not much, but enough to make a difference.

Quick Note
Just want to throw this into the discussion....This trade was an absolute fleecing.  Even if Tavares and Scott don't produce, Jeriome Robertson is not even with the Indians anymore and is a nonprospect at this time.  I mean I know the Indians have a very deep system, but a bad trade is a bad trade.  Didn't they also make a stinker for Scott Stewart (Church and Izturis)?

I'll have a review of all "we didn't expect this guy to make the roster" players once the season starts. Scott will be on that.
