Kansas City Royals Farm Organization Discussion

I'm plugging away at the Twins comments. I don't know when it will be done; the first few teams always take time to do until I find my stride.

Here is a discussion thread for the third team I will do, the Kansas City Royals. What do you guys make of this system? What kind of grades do you think Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas merit given their disappointing seasons?

Blogging the Book

Here is the first comment I've written for the 2010 book. This one isn't too technical; many of the others will be. I've spent most of the day culling an initial list of 60 Twins prospects down to 40, the maximum I can put in the book. Note that the formatting on the stats will look much better in the book; it doesn't cut-and-paste well into this format.

Notes from the Introduction

I'm polishing up the introduction for the 2010 book today. Here are a couple of clips that you might find interesting, particularly those who haven't bought the book in previous years.

Book Writing Process

The first thing I do when writing the book is to review the Top 50/50 list from the previous year. I started that today and should finish tomorrow, and will post the results here.

We should start taking pre-orders for the book next week.

Organization Discussion: Atlanta Braves

Let's get this one started....discuss the Braves organization.

Am I the only one who thinks J.J. Hoover should have made Baseball America's Top 20 for the Sally League?

Organization Discussion: Minnesota Twins

I am now beginning work on the 2010 Baseball Prospect Book. The first three teams I do, traditionally, are the Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, and Kansas City Royals. After that I work on whatever teams strike my fancy, although I try to alternate NL and AL teams.

Anyway, I should start writing Twins comments tomorrow. Use this thread to discuss the Minnesota farm system.

Rookie Profile: Nolan Reimold

Nolan Reimold was a second round pick in 2005, out of Bowling Green University, where he'd hit .360/.496/.770 with 20 homers, coming in second in NCAA Division I in slugging. Scouts weren't sure about what his batting average and OBP would look like against pro pitching, but they liked his power. He hit .285/.385/.551 in 73 games in his pro debut, split between Aberdeen in the New York-Penn League and Frederick in the Carolina League. I gave him a Grade B in the 2006 book, noting that he has excellent potential if the strike zone didn't get away from him.
