Cleveland MOD
Our Picks:
#13
#138
#168
Any early suggestions for players I should look into with that 13 pick? No 2nd or 3rd round picks means that we could go above slot with that pick. I'm not sure how much signability factors into this mock draft but let me know if there are any guys you think would be worth taking at 13 who fall due to signability. Also if anyone would like to be scouting deputy let me know.

Cleveland's...
IF Blake Beavan is available, I think you should grab him. He dominated both with Team USA against strong talent, and with his high school team. There's some concern with his delivery, that it will eventually cause him shoulder problems, but they once thought Mark Prior had the 'perfect' delivery, so I'm not sure you put too much weight into that.
With Beavan...think AJ Burnett

Maybe Scherzer
High school players
I'd take Bumgarner if he's there but parker would be fine

Thoughts on the Indians' draft philosophy!
jagsbball41 - thanks for taking the scouting director position - greatly appreciated! :-) I'm not sure I'll be around that weekend, but I'll see if I can help you with some of the philosophy and who would be a good fit for the Indians before that weekend comes.
The Indians would take the best available talent at their position, regardless of position and regardless of agent/price (which should be less of an issue now anyway with the new draft rules in place.)
I know in the last few drafts, they've steered more toward college guys because they thought they were the better talent at that draft spot, plus the fact that virtually all of the HS draft picks from the 2001 draft (Dan Denham, Jake Dittler, J.D. Martin, Travis Foley, Mike Conroy, etc.) have failed to live up to expectations, but if there's a polished HS player that they feel is a good talent (like John Drennen, for instance,) they won't be afraid to draft him.
Regarding Scherzer, his command seems to have improved quite a bit during his time at Missouri; if he's deemed healthy (I think he had an injury, didn't he?) I could see the Indians taking him, though I heard the HS pitching talent was quite immense this year, better than the college pitching talent, so the Indians usually dive into a draft's greatest strength, so I could see them taking some polished high school pitching prospect if they feel he's the best choice at #13. I think I heard that LHP is strong as well, so that could be another consideration - it's likely the Indians will take some quality LHP prospects as well.
Hopefully, this is helpful - if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at jchengeryATgmail.com (replace AT with @) or just reply in this or another thread that deals with the Indians' Draft (maybe call it MOD Indians 2 or something like that.)
Take care and have a great day!
