Draft Day is upon us and I need your help. I have questions to be answered and curiosities to be figured out.
Let's start with two general questions.
What would be your draft strategy in terms of money and slot bonuses?
As Astros' fans, what kind of players do you want to see in Minute Maid Park? What would excite you? Meaning, would you like a flamethrower (ex Yordano Ventura), a finesse arm (ex Mark Buehrle), a contact-oriented bat (ex Billy Butler), a speedster (ex Brett Gardner), a power bat (ex Justin Upton), etc.?
I'm going to pose one question for each pick as a sort of guide for the War Room but feel free to talk about other things draft-related.
Pick #1. If you were in my position, who would be your first round pick?
Pick #37. In my research, I have found another player that I really like and probably will pick him here unless I can be discouraged. I can't exactly tell you all who I'm thinking of for fear it may influence other drafters, but I do want to see what kind of player you want here.
Pick #42. Here is a question that always varies depending on who you ask. In this pick I'm looking at a batch of high school arms and need help deciphering who is the best: Spencer Adams, Foster Griffin, Cody Reed, Michael Kopech, Scott Blewett and Mac Marshall. Who would you take here? (Matt Imhof is the wildcard college guy in play)
Pick #75. Here is where it all really depends on who is left. I have some targets but want to hear some of yours as well.
Pick #106. For this pick, I'm looking at some high ceiling high school bats and some other players with particularly good bat-to-ball skills. Should there be others I am looking at?
Thanks to all who have guided me through this process. Let's hope this draft is a success!
