My fantasy baseball draft is coming up on Sunday, and I have the #1 pick for our minor league draft. The problem is all of the top choices have pretty much been picked clean. International players like Tanaka, Abreu, Gonzalez, Guerrero have all been taken. Top players from last years draft are gone - only first rounders that remain are Bickford, Tim Anderson, Ciuffo, Chi Chi, McKinney, and Demeritt. None of them excite me as the top pick. Looking at our community Top 100, the top names available are Rougned Odor, Mookie Betts, and Jorge Alfaro (and Lewis Thorpe?). Carlos Rodon is taken, as is Jacob Gatewood. All other players going in the 2014 are available, but if they go to a team in the NL Central or NL West, I would lose them. (I lost Kris Bryant that way last year, grrrrr.) I already have a lot of top pitchers, so I'd really prefer a bat. What about about Alex Jackson or Trea Turner? Or are pitchers like Kolek or Beede to good to pass up here? I could go with other international players who could come over - my top guy from Cuba would be 2b Jose Fernandez and my top two from Japan would be P Kenta Maeda and 1b Hideto Asamura. I'm totally lost on what to do with this pick.
How about if I do it as a poll? Keep in mind that my team is pretty well stacked and not in urgent need of help, so I'm not looking for a quick return. I'm mostly looking for upside, and therefore I'm not too concerned with position (although hitter would be better than pitcher, but if Rodon were available, he'd be my choice).
