Red Sox MOD: Introduction

Red Sox picks with values(Per BA)

1 7 $3,246,000
2 45 $1,229,600
3 81 $671,200
4 113 $454,800

So we are back at it again. This is an interesting draft for the Red Sox picking the highest they've picked since they drafted Trot Nixon 7th overall in the 1993 draft and presumably won't be picking this high again for the foreseeable future.

The draft class is starting to develop some tiers, with two College pitchers at the top followed by four hitters, two HS bats and two college bats. Things after that start to become muddle due to injury and performance. Ryne Stanek has taken a step back and apparently looked pedestrian over the weekend, Sean Manaea who was one of the big prospects coming into the year doesn't have the same stuff he displayed at the Cape then missed a game with a hip problem then came back and was in the mid 80s through the middle innings. Both cases should be followed closely as to how they respond from here on out. You've got Kohl Stewart who is a two-sport athlete and is committed to Texas A&M as a QB. Then there is Braden Shipley who has been moving up draft boards all year long though he doesn't have the same track record as the others pitchers at the top.

We'll get deeper into some of this guys in subsequent MODs just giving a general overview of some of the guys.

Questions:

Who are some of the guys you'd like to consider at 7th?

How would you like the Red Sox to approach this draft?
