Minor League Ball Gameday, May 25

My pitching staff can do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs - Stephen Dunn

Good afternoon prospect watchers. I trust that you are enjoying the first segment of your Memorial Day Weekend.

***Upcoming schedule: I'm going to do Prospect of the Day on Monday for Carlos Triunfel of the Seattle Mariners. Poor Jarred Cosart of the Astros keeps getting bumped and will move down to Tuesday, however I won't postpone him any longer than that. Besides, more people will read it on Tuesday given that Monday is a holiday.

***Matt Garrioch has posted his latest Mock Draft. I will do one more of those myself but will likely push it to right before the actual draft. And of course the big Minor League Ball Community Mock Draft is on June 1st. Also, I encourage everyone to pick up a copy of Matt's 2013 MLB Draft Book. Support small business, and help keep Minor League Ball forever free!

***Along those lines, I still have the 2013 Baseball Prospect Book for sale as well. Made in America!

***Yesterday's Minor League Ball Gameday thread has the necessary highlights from yesterday's action.

***The Los Angeles Dodgers are converting Aaron Miller from pitcher to outfielder. He was a two-way guy in college and it is evident that pitching wasn't working out, so the move seems logical to me.

***Alex Kienholz at Beyond the Boxscore has a breakdown of Kevin Gausman's pitches in his first major league start, including video/GIFs of his fastball, slider, and changeup. Definitely worth your time.

***In other Dodgers news, the drumbeats around Don Mattingly's job are getting louder although nothing seems imminent to me. Ned Yost in Kansas City seems to be in hotter water and Joe Posnanski goes over the various problems dogging the disappointing Royals...problems that go back 20 years.

I don't pay a lot of attention to managerial shenanigans these days, but I have a question for you along those lines. How necessary do you think it is for a manager to have minor league managerial experience? Does it make a difference if the proposed manager was a big star as a player, like Mattingly or Robin Ventura?
