Through our discussions in MOD #2, I can safely say we have narrowed down who we are looking for with pick # 31 in
the 1st round. The list of possibilities is as follows :
- HS RHP Hunter Harvey
- HS RHP Hunter Green
- College LHP Marco Gonzales
- HS SS Oscar Mercado
- JuCo SS Tim Anderson
With the 1st round narrowed down, lets take a closer look at round 2, which features pick #65. In our preliminary discussions, we came up with another list of possibles for #65. 5 players were chosen as guys who could potentially slip to the late 2nd round for us. They are,
- College LHP Kevin Ziomek
- College LHP Tom Windle
- HS OF Cord Sandberg
- HS SS/3B Travis Demeritte
- HS OF Josh Hart
All 5 are projected to go anywhere from pick 40-60 so there is a chance they could be snatched up before we get a chance. That said, I'd like to look at who else could fit for the Braves
in Round 2. Going off cookiedabookie's draft analysis, Atlanta has gone with a college player 66% of the time which I see as a definite trend. They also take a college bat 50% of the time with only 17% college arms in the 2nd round. That said, I'd like to look at a few college position players who could be available.
According to Matt Garrioch, the only college sticks on his board in the vicinity of #65 is Cal OF Michael Lorenzen at 59.
OJ Mayo at MLB.com has OF JaCoby Jones from LSU at 57, Cal C Andrew Knapp at 68, and Kansas St. OF Jared King at 77.
So out of Lorenzen, Jones, Knapp, and King, who would you rather take and are there any other's you would throw in the mix?
