Alex Meyer wins the runoff in our Community Prospects poll for slot #79, with Dan Vogelbach taking the next slot. The margin was small but clear, 14 votes to 11. Without further ado, here's the next installment, for slots 81 to 83 as we head for the finish line and the 100th best prospect. Voting will be open for 24 hours. I'd like to turn responsibility for scoring the next one, and posting subsequent ones, over to someone else, as I really just stepped back in for the weekend. (It became a "long" weekend, but that's OK.)
There doesn't seem to be a clear consensus on adding someone to replace these two winners, although I'll certainly remedy the injustice done to Corey Seager by inadvertently omitting him from the last ballot -- my fault, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa, mea screwa-uppa. On the other hand, nobody is getting "demoted" back to the rotation/testers list, either. One thing that seems clear is that support for candidates is much more divided now. That's sensible; earlier it was possible to say with some confidence that Jurickson Profar, Dylan Bundy, Oscar Taveras and Wil Myers were the top four candidates, with only the order to be worked out, but now the gradations are much less clear. Certainly, if there's someone in the rotation pool that should be added, there'll be room.
As always, discussion is encouraged; it's been quite interesting for the last couple of ballots. May this trend continue! Also as always (unless there's a runoff going on), our voting procedure is:
+1 or #1 = three points awarded
+2 or #2 = two points awarded
+3 or #3 = one point awarded
Our CP List to date:
Voting will be open until midnight Wednesday night, at which point it will end (hopefully closed and taken over by someone else).
