As I did last year, I have compiled a composite top prospect list using various lists from around the web. The methodology is fairly simple (but time consuming). I take the top 100 prospects from each list, assign them points (100 for #1, 99 for #2, etc.) and then add up the points and sort highest to lowest for my composite list.
Its always an interesting exercise to go through this process each year, because each site has a different view as to what is considered a top prospect. Sure, a lot of the top 10 or so prospects are the same across the various sites (just in different order), but once you get past that, its anybody's guess who might show up.
Jurickson Profar is the consensus #1 prospect, being named #1 on 5 of the 6 lists (he was #2 on the other). You can check out the rest of the list at MLB Composite Prospect Index.
I will likely update the list again in late February and then again in mid-to-late March (for those of you needing a cheat sheet for your reserve draft).
Thanks and I hope you find the list useful.
