5x5, keeper, auction draft (w/ultra/rookie draft), established (over 10 years), AL-only, around $120 to play with almost all money going to prize pool (top 3-4 finishers get paid), live draft in the metro Detroit area. Draft is currently set for 4-6-12.
We usually have turnover of about one team per season...it's more involved than fantasy football snake drafts so its difficult to find new guys that want to devote the time...but this year we lost one of the new guys and one of the veterans so we're needing to replace 2 teams.
It's not really a "dynasty" league, there is no "farm" system except for 0-10 players teams may choose to have in their reserves who may or may not be minor league players. Some teams have no minor league players and use their reserve spots for back-up guys (these teams are usually less successful) and other teams have as many as 7-10 of their reserve spots tied up with minor leaguers.
The draft is "live", but don't let that scare ya...the guys are really cool and down to earth and very welcoming to new players. The draft has occurred in different places over the last 5 years (Anchor Bay, Warren, Detroit, Roseville, Fraser) but almost always in Metro Detroit (North Wayne, Southeast Oakland counties). Usually at one of the player's houses. There may be a meeting prior to the draft since theres 2 new teams to divide up the two open teams..in the past that was done as a sort of flip of the coin for ultra/rookie draft position and then a snake draft for all players on both team's rosters.
If you want a spot or have any questions, send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. This is a unique opportunity to get involved in a league that isn't too complicated...it's not like a dynasty situation where you need to spend a few years rebuilding someone's junky team. The new player last year finished in 3rd. It's in depth enough of a keeper league to make it fun and interesting but not so in depth that its a 5-year commitment just to get yourself started.
