MOD: Minnesota Twins Draft

So, the Twins have lots of extra picks this year, beginning with the second-overall pick in the draft. Bringing some power arms into an organization that desperately needs them seems like the obvious thing to do, but there are other needs as well.

The Twins could also use an impact catcher to slide Joe Mauer over to first base, and Mike Zunino from Florida seems like a great fit if the Astros don't take him first. However, some scouts I greatly respect absolutely love Puerto Rico's Carlos Correa and project him as an impact bat with a solid shortstop glove. A future infield with Miguel Sano at third, Correa at shortstop, and either Brian Dozier or Eddie Rosario at second base would look awfully nice.

So, my current thinking is to go with either Zunino or Correa (whoever is available) at second overall, then fill in with the best-available power pitching in the supplemental and second round picks.

The other option is to pick the best arm at 2nd overall....Gausman, Appel, Zimmer, or a healthy Giolito. But right now I'm thinking about the Zunino/Correa plan.

What do you guys think?
