What are your guys' thoughts on Colorado OF prospect Corey Dickerson? Is he a prospect or a suspect?
Last year it seems that everyone labeled him as a suspect, despite hitting 32 HR's in 383 AB's, because 24 of those homers came at home. He also hit much better at home (.354/.418/.852 at home vs .193/.280/.363 on the road) and obviously benefited from playing his home games in a favorable hitters park in Asheville. Scouts reminded us of Joe Koshansky who put up similar home/road splits at Asheville and was never able to produce at the big league level.
Now, fast forward to 2012 and Dickerson is tearing it up at Modesto. Through 39 games, he's hitting .363/.415/.650, including 16 doubles, 4 triples and 7 homers in 157 AB's. Better yet, he does not appear to be benefiting from a favorable home park as his home/road splits are .355/.407/.526 at home and .370/.422/.765 on the road. In fact, all 7 of his homers have come on the road.
If he keeps this up, does he become a top 100 prospect or do we need to see more to become believers?
I'm curious as to what everyone, especially John, think of his prospect status and what his future may hold.
