Seems like people are being a bit too conservative with pitchers at this point.

13 of last 16 spots going to hitters

I understand the volatility of pitchers, but I think the community list may have swung to far towards the “safety” of positional prospects vs. the higher risk/reward of the pitching prospects.

by cookiedabookie on Feb 2, 2012 10:54 AM EST up reply actions

yes

….especially when the pitcher up for consideration has passed the “injury nexus”, as it were and, has handled a full season at AA and, dominated AAA.

That said, I have no real idea of how good Billy Hamilton really will be. I haven’t seen a lot of him with my own two eyes and, I have heard vastly differing opinions on him, making him a very interesting prospect.

This is a pretty intriguing matchup, this late in the rankings.

Well...

I think we were doing a weird pitcher hitter split early on, and this is sort of a correcting period i think. If earlier on we had a more expected hitter/pitcher split, right now hitters and pitchers would be going back and forth.

There's still a 13 point difference right now

Peralta (36) vs. Hamilton (49). And it all came up in the last 16 spots. Peralta wins this race, and the rest of the races are split 50/50, that means there are still 12 more hitters than pitchers in the top 100, which I think is a bit extreme, especially after such a deep pitching draft class.

by cookiedabookie on Feb 2, 2012 10:08 PM EST up reply actions

Oh I don't agree

I think 12 more hitters than pitchers is pretty good actually.

by auclairkeithbc on Feb 2, 2012 10:26 PM EST up reply actions

I'd have had a few more pitcher on at this point, personally

But I think there’s a pretty big step down from Arcia/Wheeler Rosario to Norris/Dominguez/Catricala such that a number of pitchers could go off, and more pitchers than hitters in the next 10/15
