The San Diego Padres announced today that catcher Yasmani Grandal has been suspended 50 games for violating MLB's drug and substance abuse policy.
Grandal tested positive for "extreme levels" of testosterone and will miss the first 50 games of the 2013 season.
The 23 year old Grandal hit .297 in 237 at bats during his rookie season with the Padres after coming over from the Cincinnati Red as part of the Mat Latos trade.
