Mesoraco was very highly rated going into this year, but had a very difficult year, although getting just enough playing time in the majors to exhaust his rookie eligibility. Rizzo, although not generally as highly rated as Mesoraco going into 2012 after struggling in 128 at bats with the Padres the year before, was on many top prospect lists as well and had a very solid year at the plate, raking in AAA for the first half of the year, and then putting up a very solid 119 OPS+ in the second half.
So, who is the better prospect for the long haul between the two of them?
Also, if you have any views about who you want on the ballot next among those who haven't yet gotten on, now would be a great time to discuss.
