Not making this up as wild conjecture, this was stated by Bill Bavasi, VP of scouting and player development - Billy Hamilton is moving to CF in 2013. You need to scroll down the page a bit, or click on the re-direct link at the top of the page to get to the article re: Hamilton.

Personal thought: this is a good move for the Reds. As mentioned by Bavasi in the article, the Reds have a fair amount of middle infield prospects but could certainly use help in CF. I doubt that this transition will propel Hamilton to the majors more quickly than if he stuck at SS, but this is likely the best long-term use of his skills. I'm hoping he goes back to Pensacola for a short while to begin 2013, to man CF in an environment he is already accustomed, with a likely jump to AAA in midsummer. Worst case scenario - he flops in the position transition and is put back at SS (though honestly, I think this is a long-term move that sticks).
