Private League
I am not sure if a non-league member will be able to access the league, however, the league URL is as follows: http://minlbfl.baseball.cbssports.com
Brief Summary of League Rules
To add to John’s post, the league is a deep 24-team 7×7 rotisserie keeper league.
The 24-player active roster includes: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, MI, CI, 5 OF, DH, 5 SP, and 6 RP.
The batting rotisserie categories include: BA, HR, OBP, RBI, SB-CS, SEC*, and SLG
*For those unfamiliar with SEC, it is Secondary Average. The formula for SEC is (TB – H + BB + SB – CS)/AB.
The pitching rotisserie categories include: ERA, FIP*, HD, K, QS, S, and W
For those unfamiliar with FIP, it is Fielding Independent Pitching. I believe the formula used in this league for FIP is (13HR + 3*BB – 2*K)/IP + 3.10.
Teams may keep up to 20 players, which includes both major leaguers and minor leaguers.
There is a 16-round automated, online draft via the CBS league page with 30 minutes between picks (you set a list and it selects the top ranked player).
The league is run through CBS.
Finally, to add to the rosters above, it is worth noting the 2012 Draft Order. BatCats has the first pick, Screaming Eyeballs the 7th, Minor Offense the 8th, and NY Dynasty the 9th. The draft order does not snake.
The draft will include all recent MLB draftees, Leonys Martin, Yu Darvish, and possibly Yoenis Cespedes if he signs before the draft. The draft will likely begin in early-mid March.
I believe that properly summarizes the league’s setup.
Applications
In e-mail applications, please state the following:
1. Your Minor League Ball username
2. Fantasy baseball experience, and
3. Rank the available teams in the order you prefer them.
We are looking for active owners with strong knowledge of prospects and the MLB, of course.
I will not accept any more e-mail applications after January 27th at 12:10 pm EST.
by the way
By the way, I want to personally thank JARoche for administrating the league. I don’t have time, and without his efforts the league would have gone under after the first year.
How about a Minor League Ball "Dynasty" League?
This sounds like fun, but I am surprised that the Minor League Ball Fantasy League is not set up as a dynasty league with large minor league farm systems.
I think we all enjoy this site for the in-depth minor league knowledge that John, Matt and others have.
If you guys ever start a dynasty league, I would be interested in competing. I can also supply a copy of a dynasty constitution to use.
I take part in a league that has 24 teams and we can manage up to 225 players per team. We do a 35 round FYPD each August, and a 20 round Minor League Free Agent Draft each March to divide up new talent every year.
The most interesting thing I have found in being part of this league, is that everyone ranks players differently. Many times we will hear John say something like “players 11-20 could be in any order”, or “these three players could all move way up the list by next year”. And that is all true, and you can test your team building skills by being part of one of these leagues.
The Super Sickels Keeper League has openings
I believe we’ve gotten all the positions filled in the Minor League Ball league, of which I am a member, but I am also in a similar league which started the year prior – the Super Sickels Keeper League – and we have openings in that league.
The league was formed specifically by long-time readers (and posters) of this site, and of course named for John. Naturally, it has alot of emphasis on minor leaguers – we have 30-man major league rosters and 15-man minor league rosters. We have 20 teams in our league, so that means we’ve got 300 minor leaguers on our teams – so it really helps to know your prospects in this league, which is why I post here. We also have daily transactions so it does require a fair amount of time involvement, and we’ve got some pretty sharp owners. If you think this league sounds interesting, send me an email at kennyholl@verizon.net, or reply with an email address of your own, or other contact info.
The wind is in the buffalo.
