Matt Moore freed from AAA: Called up to the MLB
"Matt Moore has been informed he's coming to the big leagues. Joining the #Rays on Monday."
As a Rays fan, I am nothing short of ecstatic about seeing him pitch. Apparently he's going to be in a relief role, ala David Price in 08'. Should be very good to see, hopefully he's a relief ace.
Also, hopefully he pitches lights out so he makes our FO think he can start opening day in 2012. But knowing our FO, probably not going to happen, since we still need to free up a spot in the rotation, plus do something about Alex Cobb when he's healthy.

Nice!
He hasn’t been pitching as well lately as he was a month ago (command & secondaries have been less consistent than they were when he was first promoted), but he should be fine out of the bullpen.

personally I hope he goes back to AAA for the first month next year
He might be dominant out of the pen but he definitely needs to tighten up that curve and trust his change more. If he does that he could be their best pitcher as early as the all-star break next year. That’s pretty scary.
It would be a surprise if they didn't take that path
He’ll probably be in AAA until June unless they’re pressed into bringing him up early.

if he shows anything like in the futures game
With Kyle farnsworth hurt I wouldn’t be shocked if he is closing by the end of the year and if the rays somehow pass Boston in the playoffs

This is what I'm hoping for.
Except Farnsworth stays healthy and becomes set-up man in a perfect world. (I know it won’t happen.)

He isn't eligible for the playoff roster, is he?
Same goes for Bauer and Parker too, right?

the answer is sort of
I believe if Farnsworth is DL’d then Moore can pitch in the playoffs and get through the loophole in the system. We have seen this before with KRod I think.
They can use Alex Cobb as the DL guy

yea if the Rays make the playoffs
Matt Moore will be on the roster, I can about 99.99999% guarantee that.
There are loopholes and the Rays have no problem DLing someone to make him eligible. Did the same thing with Price in 08'
who came up Sept. 2nd for the first time.
Tools Whore
Bauer and Parker
can be on it by replacing Marquis and Gutierrez, who are both on the DL.

you haven't seen him before?
You’ll like him. Pitchability guy, 87-88 mph fastball, spots it well for the most part. Three average pitches! He’s a little shorter and heavier than his listed weight, though, probably somewhere around 5’2" and 290 pounds. Physical comp is a cross between Lea Michele and Quasimodo.
Can't wait to see if stuff in the bigs.
It would be nice to get Moore some big league exposure, right in the middle of a pennant race. See how he does with a little bit of pressure, then decide on putting him on the post season roster. We can beat any team in MLB, even the Phillies. Just got to get in the playoffs. GO RAYS!
He killed it against the Yanks
His first MLB start was an important win that kept us alive. Way to go!
