ORIGINS: Of the 22 hitters on the roster, three were signed as international free agents, all from the Dominican Republic. Twelve were drafted from high schools in North America or Puerto Rico. Seven were drafted from four-year colleges.

Eight were first round picks, and six were second round picks. The lowest drafted was  Matt Holliday, drafted in the seventh round.
