Pedro Alvarez on his way back to Pittsburgh
El Toro is back.
He's gonna have a tough time, as far as pitchers go, as the Pirates square off against the Braves and Phillies over the next two series. Hopefully (as a Pirates fan) he comes out strong and goes on to have an excellent rest of the season and a solid career.

Nice
Its a win-win for the Buccos. Pedro could rake and carry them to the playoffs, or he could continure struggling, but he cant be worse than who they are throwing out there right now

Sure he could
If he continues to struggle the way he did early in the year (not saying he will), I’d rather have d’Aranud at third for his defense.

Eh
D’Arnaud’s glove has been questionable at third. Can’t be as bad as Pedro, but it’s not that big of an upgrade as you’d think. I’d personally rather have Brandon Wood at 3B than d’Arnaud right now. D’Arnaud should be in Indy getting regular AB’s and reps at SS for the future, and Josh Harrison should be back in Pittsburgh now that Ronny Cedeno is (presumably) healthy.
Hopefully Pedro makes this point moot with his bat.

I like d’Arnaud a lot more defensively at third base than at any other position, and it’s where he enjoys playing the most.

You D'arnaud at SS for the future...
yet you say he has been questionable at 3rd? Doesn’t make much sense. He has been excellent at 3rd so far because of his range. Other than a few mental errors(common in young players) he has shown the potential to play both SS and 3B well above average. So if someone values defense, D’arnaud is the much better option right now. For me, however, Petey is the only answer.

I agree completely. However, in the middle of a pennant race I’ll take Pedro’s bat over an inconsistent D’Arnaud (his glove).
D’Arnuad needs regular time.

So would I
My post was based on this assumption: “If he continues to struggle the way he did early in the year” because the original poster said even if he continues to struggle he was the best option.
