Drew Pomeranz and Allen Webster
What are youre opinions on these two guys? Ive seen a good amount of video on both and like their stuff. Both seem pretty polished. I recently just got back into prospecting so hearing your opinions would help alot.
To me Drew looks a little like Cliff Lee. Very polished and throws a pretty good fastball around 91-93.
Allen Webster..seems like he has very good control and good offspeed stuf...already in AA and only 20..any chance he makes the team out of Spring Training 2012?

Well
I think there’s quite a few pitchers (Teheran, Moore, Taillon, Banuelos, to name a few) that would have something to say about this.
I too have been impressed with Pom to this point, but I think expectation should be tempered a bit as he is a college pitcher in High A still. Lets see what kind of numbers he can amass at Double A first
I have to honestly say that...
I’m higher on Pomeranz than I am all of those guys…Then again I’ve never had to privilege to see Matt Moore pitch…still, I say that with some confidence.
Not that those guys aren’t nasty…especially the two short ones…
Wow!
He’s not all that close to those guys imo. Throw in Martin Perez, and Cole, Bauer, Bundy and maybe Hultzen, and Pomeranz isn’t even a top 10 pitching prospect for next year.

low 90s fb that can hit 95 with a great change up…. real dandy…
his curve is lacking but should get better and better…
As a RHP, he already has no trouble with LHB which is a real good sign, because of his change up… he has more trouble with RHB partly due to his lacking breaking pitch

I don’t know nearly as much as Matthew and other dodger guys here, but I’m really intrigued by this arm. He was on my radar last year, but it seems he has really advanced this year…which isn’t shocking being that he has only been pitching full-time for a little while. The numbers to begin the year in highA were very good, especially considering the environments they came in. It is easy to see why his change rates so highly when you see how he handles lefties. Given his age and pitching experience, I could see him adding a tick or two of velo and improvement across the board in his secondaries. You can really dream on Webster, imo…
