Brett Lawrie Dynasty Trade - Please vote
Mixed 16 team 5x5 Dynasty League. No salaries keep 4-ever.
Been offered Brett Lawrie & Jon Lester for Adrian Gonzalez and Manuel Banuelos
A-Gonzo is one of the 5 best hitters in the league in the Sox lineup and in the post-Juice era is a rare 300-30-100 lock for several years. Lester, a bit younger and an ace, but arms can turn ailing at anytime and then never be quite the same.
Lawrie is probably the 3rd best bat in the minors (behind Harper and Trout). Has some inflation in his numbers playing Vegas.
Banuelos is probably a top 20 prospect.
Putting need aside which side of this deal do you like and why?
Thanks

To me the difference in talent between Lester and gonzo is too much for lawrie to make up over banuelos..
Maybe try banuelos and a piece for lawrie?

I think Lawrie is a much better grab at this point...over Banuelos
Better positional value, better health record, closer to the bigs…
But unless you have an iron-clad replacement for AGonz, I wouldn’t deal him.
Consider this: if Banuelos becomes a RP (which IS a possibility), would you do the deal?
True
Lester would displace Liriano in my starting rotation, a pretty big upgrade.
On the other hand Gonzalez at DH would be replaced by either Seth Smith or Sands, until ~ mid June when Lawrie is called up and then he would tAke over the role.
Banuelos to me profiles as either a #3 SP or a bullpen arm.
If Lawrie will evolve into a 300-20-90 infielder than I can probably justify the deal as my current offense is slightly stronger than my pitching

i wouldnt do it
it’s close enough in talent to perhaps be justified, depending on what you were looking for, but based on who your replacements for a-gone are, i wouldnt do it. i like sands, but that’s a pretty big drop off. that being said, we don’t know the rest of your lineup. perhaps your team can take the drop off from a-gone and your rotation really needs the help, we dont know. thats a factor that could change my mind

THanks
On a 10 point scale my offense is ~ 9 and my pitching a ~ 6.5, so that makes the deal a decent fit. I also like Lawrie’s upside and getting a tad younger as well

I voted Lawrie/Lester because
solid IF players are rare, and he could become just that. Lester isn’t so terrible either, but I guess it depends on your overall team.

Gonzalez side and the reason why....
I always try to get the best player in a trade and that player is Adrian Gonzalez. So for that reason the side getting Gonzalez won the trade as of today. That’s not to say that won’t change in the future, but I think it hurts your offense significantly more than it helps your pitching. That’s a high price to pay for that big ass dart you’re throwing at Brett Lawrie.
