Travis Snider Demoted
Can't say its 100% surprising, but it is just disappointing. I really thought he would finally break out this year, after two years around 100 OPS+. But he posted a stat line so far of.181 .277 .265 with 22ks in 80 ABs. I assume they think there is something he can work on in the minors, or they just want to give him some confidence. Is there any insight on what hes been struggling on? I know that at 23 hes still very young, so he could still come back and be that all-star we had hoped, but after nearly 800 abs its just a bit disappointing to see him sent back down.

he looks
horrible against breaking balls, and they’ve been feeding a lot to him
David Cooper gets
the call-up for 1B and DH.
In 2009 John Sickels had him graded with a B, considered giving him a B+. Then he didn’t rank him in 2010 or this year.
Anyone here familiar with him?
last year
had a good second half, carried that over to this spring and played quite well with the major league squad in spring training all the way up till the end of March. Hitting really well in Las Vegas at the moment, has shown a lot more doubles power and not much HR power, but if he does put it together, he could be a Lyle Overbay type with a better BA but poor defense, I expect the Jays to use him at DH.
Keith Law still calls him an organizational player at this point, though
I think that Keith is overstating things a little bit, but it’s hard to see Cooper becoming a solid regular.

Well im excited to see Cooper but this is like Cecil just send down for a little reasons
work on some stuff get there confidence back they will both be back up. But Travis really has to work on his hitting in 0-2 counts and hitting Curvballs as he plain out just caint hit curvballs right now.
Not sure what happened to Cecil
Not only is his fastball down, but the command is bad too.

Yeah, at first I was wondering what the hell they were doing bouncing around Cecil
Then I realized that he’s really looked bad this year. Honestly, my best guess is that he’s not 100% healthy. You don’t fall apart like this when you’re 25 unless you’re hurt, generally.

They keep saying he's healthy
But I’m kind of skeptical as well. He had a solid outing today at least.

Mechanics off?
Usually when you see a big dropoff in velocity and control you either have a change in mechanics or an injury that is being compensated for by a change in mechanics. Typically a lower arm slot, missing spots side to side, and lesser or different movement.
IFFB%
He was popping out 20% of the time. Small sample, but pop-ups and 26% K rate (that actually had been coming down and showing promise) were killing his numbers.
It's always sad to see
a promising player mishandled by a questionable organization. Here’s to Snider figuring some things out.
Sean Burroughs
posted an OPS+ of 106 as a 22 year old. Then pitchers and outfielders figured out how to shut him down completely.
Some players don’t have it in them to adjust. I’m afraid Snider might fit in that group.

I think Murphy may be part of the problem.
His strength seems to be teaching pull hitting. He played a big part in helping turn Bautista from a fungible scrub to one of the best hitters in baseball, But Snider, Lind and Hill’s strengths were hitting to all fields, and all 3 have regressed since Murphy took over as hitting coach. Snider’s mechanics are off, his hips are flying open and he’s lunging at pitches, generating almost no power. Getting him away from Murphy may be the quickest way to solve these issues.
