Chris Davis recalled from Triple-A
You can make the argument that he's not really a prospect, but I like to think of him as a prospect as he still is growing as a hitter and hasn't established himself at the major league level, and he's only 25. He'll probably be fighting for ABs with Murphy/Borbon as Moreland will be playing some OF.
Do you think this is the year he finally makes good on his potential? Or will he flounder again? 4 HR is great, but a warning sign is his 8/1 K/BB in Triple-A. Average and power aside, he's shown he can't K at that rate to succeed.
So here's an interesting food for thought question: If you had Dan Johnson in an AL-only fantasy league, would you drop him for Davis IF it meant that you were stuck with Davis for the rest of the season and couldn't drop him even if he just became a backup or was demoted? So even if you like Davis a lot more than Johnson, would you trust that Texas will give him the opportunity and that he'll capitalize enough that you would risk dropping a full-time hitter who also has some pop? I'm interested to see what the community thinks, as a lot of projection systems include Fangraphs and BP don't think Davis will ever be able to consistently hit major league pitching.

i think this is it...
i predict he mashes and stays up
I predict he gets less than 10 at bats a week
if that. He’s behind Beltre at 3B, Young, Moreland, and Napoli at 1B/DH, and he’d be the 5th option in the OF. In a week or two they’ll probably send down a reliever and bring up Gentry or Chavez for the 5th OF spot and he won’t even get that.

Johnson
is 31 and hasn’t hit above 240 in 5 years!! I’d give Davis a shot…
Keep Johnson
Davis isn’t going to get regular playing time.

actually
ron washington said davis will get ab’s and see time at first (let moreland play some OF), third and OF
are saying they'll have Davis play OF?
He played 3B in spring training, but I’d have trouble seeing them play him over Beltre if he’s healthy, and I highly doubt they’d play him at OF if he has ever played there at all. I don’t know about Moreland’s OF defense but I’d think it’s better than Davis

Hmmm
Interesting question.
I think Chris Davis will take advantage of this opportunity and have a good career. STILL not sure I’d drop Johnson for him – for this season though.
Is there another player you could drop? You could alternate Johnson and Davis possibly or, at least have Johnson as a backup plan.

unfortunately no
My league has a weird rule where if you pick a player entering the majors off waivers, you can’t drop them for the rest of the year. If I took Davis, someone would sure grab DJ off the wire, so if he falters and gets demoted I’d need to settle for a lowly FA corner infielder like Andy LaRoche. ugh.
My other corners are Miguel Cabrera and Encarnacion, with Vlad clogging my DH spot, so I don’t really have anyone better to drop if I don’t make a trade (well I at least like E5 more than DJ, maybe not everybody)

Dan Johnson sucks.
I would rather have an empty spot in my lineup than have DJ cripple it with a poor BA. HR/RBI/R? LOL, ya right.

I cannot understand how Dan Johnson is in the major leagues. It makes about as much sense as how Fernando Rodney just keeps getting save opps.

Agreed
In the words of Dennis Green “Dan Johnson is who we thought he was”. The guy may mash AAA but he can’t sniff MLB pitchers.

BABIP
He’s bound to get a bit lucky with BABIP and turn in a decent season at some point.
Logjam
I still like Davis but just can’t see him getting any appreciable playing time.
He needs to get traded and be given another chance where he can prove himself one way or another.

i'd love to see him in Atlanta
to be the 3B of the future and let Prado stay in LF.

Full Season
Let’s say Davis gets a full season in the majors. What does the community think he puts up? I’d pencil him in for something like 220 with 25 bombs and 40 walks on the low end (and the likely end.) Put in a high-offense environment, Davis might be worth it, since there’s the chance he’d pop off for 35 HR.
All told, that’s not a terribly unique profile.
