Luke Jackson, SP, TEX
Anyone else think that Jackson is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing non-top 100 prospects this season? I've read nothing but good things about him and he seems like the kind of guy who has a chance to become a consensus top 100 prospect a year from now.
Sickels, 9/10:
Inconsistent command from this Florida high school kid, but stuff is very, very good and I have one very trusted source who insists Jackson is going to take the lower minors by storm next year.
Goldstein, 3/11:
A supplemental first-round pick who is very projectable, and who could move up this list in short order.
Those reports were promising on their own, but Jason Parks recently saw Jackson first-hand and had many glowing things to say.... NOTE: This particular content was free for all on his site.
Jackson was throwing very hard, sitting 93 and touching 95. Jackson isn’t a big guy, but he creates excellent angle on his FB, throwing from a 3/4 slot and creating good deception stemming from his glove movement, a high leg lift, and a high front-side in the delivery. Velocity aside, the pitch features a ton of late-life, exploding on hitters and boring into right-handers. The CB is very good as well, showing depth and good deception from the arm. The ball breaks late on the hitter, with 12-6 action. The CU was too firm, but I wasn’t expecting a plus CU from a recent high school arm, especially one that has a mid 70s CB and a plus FB. The arm action is very fast and the delivery smooth, so I think the CU will develop. There aren’t many arms I would take in the system over Jackson. It’s early, but the arm is special.
I have a really good intuitive feeling about this guy's chances. 12 months from now, I think he'll be on everyone's top 100. Who else is with me?

not to get away from this subject too much
but what about expanding this post to include Jason Adam. he’s getting absurd reports. KG loosely comped him to Shelby Miller.

He’s another very promising pitching prospect who could end up as a top 100 overall guy after this season. I missed the Shelby Miller comparison, but that’s pretty damn good. You probably could lump Adam and Jackson in the same general pool of pitching prospects who seem to be on the verge of having their national coming out party.
I would add Aaron Sanchez of Toronto to that, too.
though he might already be there (KLaw had him top 100).
IIRC when KLaw was on BP Podcast
He said something to the effect that "teams were saying ‘how did we let this guy get past us’ about Sanchez
Adam from PP
Was raving about him earlier on twitter.

Two more Rangers guys
David Perez, who has already gotten a little buzz, and Victor Payano, who hasn’t. Both have some filling out to do and could add some velocity, and both already look very intriguing. Payano’s FB sits in the 87-90 range now, but he’s 6’6" and 175 at age 18.

I really enjoy posts like this.
On a side noe, watch out for Luke Bailey in 2011. The kid is really gonna hit.
Another +1
Really does have a good arm…I sometimes feel the need to state the obvious.
