Iike Beltre’s upside a bit bettter but, the level of dislike for Revere here is sorta weird. He can put the bat on the ball like nobody, can run, and play defense.

Sure
I think that our posters here have evolved to the point that we doch-hitting SSn’t even consider Japan League players “prospects” or, maybe they just don’t like him.
Personally I think he’s going to better than even most optimistic people think about him. A switch-hitting SS with some pop, good eye, speed, good defensively – in his prime? Sign me up. i’d put him about #13 or so on this position player list – give or take.

Aw Geez
Are you serious? After all the Dice-K and Johjima discussions and asterisks and everything, we really need to go thru that again? Half the people that use this list do so for fantasy draft purposes, so it seems silly to not try to gauge the import guys. If he was 17 and from Japan and predicted to start in the GCL, we’d sure as heck rank him.
Maybe we should just put out a poll as to where he should rank, then insert him in there. After a fanpost discussing his attributes, of course.
How about
I put him on the next poll? We’ll see if he garners some support, and then we can go from there. Sound reasonable?

Makes sense
Though it would be nice to stir up a little advance discussion. Maybe we can get Adam Foster to put him in his top 10 or something. Or maybe those crazy guys at Bullpen Banter.
Question
Not sure what you are responding to exactly. I said I’d put him #13, so obviously I consider him a prospect, and a good one at that. Just saying that either people have evolved to where they already consider Japaneese imports big leaguers, or they are overlooked, not sure which one. I think he, and players like him, should be on the poll. Nishioka is a far better prospect and ballplayer than Dee Gordon, for instance. In my opinion.

I wasn't directing that at you
But rather towards the collective “we”. I realize that ignoring MLB-ready imports wasn’t position you were necessarily taking.
Christian Bethancourt
might deserve a tester soon (or at least I’d take him over the other guys on the tester list above)
