Please POST HERE for any & all FANTASY openings / questions / advice / etc. Thank you!

Hate to come off rude or more arrogant than I already am, but can people please rec this post so that ANYONE who needs to fill a fantasy league or start one or need general advice can post here with their information or question.

I'd be more inclined to participate and comment in discussions and threads if they take place here vs. on their own separate fan post.  Also could take on a league or two but always late to the game or need more information and not worth the time to send emails around, etc.

As we get in fantasy draft mode, we should try to keep the fanpost space clean and keep these OT inquiries in one central place.

PLEASE REC THIS POST so it hits the top.

ty sir

we’ll see how far this goes and if anyone else uses it fwiw

then again if it persuades other users to think twice about posting about their league’s opening (best served on the Fake Teams blog) then all the better

by BigG'S on Feb 28, 2011 3:05 AM EST up reply actions

eh..

not for advise. Those trade and draft questions often spawn some pretty good feedback thats really not that OT

by ADLC on Feb 28, 2011 12:05 AM EST reply actions

all for it

like I said, I can totally see the topic being about minor leaguers, however we get alot of posters seeking out new owners from the standpoint of “prospecting minor leaguers” and that might disinterest alot of ppl from commenting on good topics.

I think the Cahill post is a great example of a job well done of a 1 year removed minor leaguer who could have a huge fantasy impact and applaud ideas / examples like that.

If however you just have an opening / need advice, i dont think it warrants a fanpost since at most you are looking at a few joiners / good comments.

Again, this is from the perspective of the guy who has taken over the community lists, but also someone who wants to contribute naturally and not see fantasy related posts cloud the judgement of what this blog should be about!

dynasty draft question

Which pitcher has the highest ceiling? I am going to choose one of them in my upcoming FYPD for my dynasty league and want to see what people think.
Dellin Betances, Trey McNutt, Chris Archer, Anthony Ranaudo, Drew Pomeranz
Thanks

by jayssensraps on Feb 28, 2011 6:14 PM EST reply actions

I like Betances

the most there…McNutt is tempting too, but Betances looks really good to me—and he may get traded to a friendlier league/home park too…

ceiling only, no team consideration

Ranaudo, Betances, Pomeranz (safest bet), Archer, McNutt

Interesting deal

League with fairly complicated 8×8 stats (AB/R/HR/RBI/SBN/BB/RC/OBP/SLG and IP/K/QS/SV/HD/ERA/WHIP/K:BB). I deal Joey Votto (1 year remaining on a fixed 3 year contract but I could use a franchise tag to hold on to him indefinitely, each team gets 4 tags, I have Longoria, Felix, and probably Cruz for the other 3), 2 years of Kelly Johnson and move down a few spots in the 2nd round of this year’s draft. I get Zack Greinke (same deal as Votto, 1 year at the end of which I could franchise tag), Mike Moustakas (5 year contract starting the year he’s called up), Grant Green, a 3rd round prospect draft pick (about the 75-90th best prospect on most Top 100 lists, and a 2012 3rd round regular draft pick.

Basically it comes down to: how big is the value difference between Votto and Greinke over the next few years?

Rank for Dynasty Draft

How should these 4 players be ranked for a dynasty draft? Taillon, Chris Sale, Machado, Gary Sanchez

by bubba4rays on Mar 2, 2011 3:48 PM EST reply actions

I would guess it depends on your needs...

and how much you value proximity to the ML roster but I would probably rank them as:

1. J. Taillon
2. C. Sale
3. G. Sanchez (I am a believer that he will be a better overall player than Montero in the long run.)
4. M. Machado

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread..

I’m in the midst of acquiring Brett Anderson for the following:

Zach Britton
Derek Norris
Mike Foltynewicz
LeVon Washington
Matt Lipka

Am I giving up too much?

This is NOT fantasy.

Only reason I’m posting it here is because my other thread is dead.

Might be

Two real good guys there at top, for sure. Hard to say much more without knowing league specifics.

by Jaeti on Mar 3, 2011 3:28 PM EST up reply actions

If not fantasy, THEN?

This is not a bad haul for the other owner, but I only could see Norris or Lipka developing into stars.

by BigG'S on Mar 3, 2011 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, I'm willing to part with..

Britton, but I’m not really interested in parting with Norris.

I might have to take this offer off of the table.

NOT fantasy?

So are you Billy Beane? In that case you should not trade Brett Anderson…

NL-only 10-team keeper auction league

Based in Dayton, Ohio, and has been around for about 20 years. We need 1 or 2 owners to fill existing teams. Standard 5×5 with $260 for salaries. It’s preferable you can make it to Dayton for the auction (which is either April 2 or April 3), but not required. We have an in-person auction, but 1 owner teleconferences from Colorado, and 2 owners teleconference from Michigan. We draft 23-man rosters and 12-man reserve lists (a mix of minors and majors). Entry fee is $70.

If interested or more questions, please email me at paulyp71@hotmail.com.

Thanks!

Would you rather...?

Not saying I’m making either of these trades. There are salary considerations, so I’ll just leave it at that.

Would you rather:

Trade Desmond Jennings and receive Matt Moore.
or
Trade Josh Hamilton and receive Shelby Miller and Aaron Hicks?

by Jaeti on Mar 3, 2011 9:45 AM EST reply actions

Jennings for Moore

Prefer neither though
Jennings has the highest floor and is worth more along the lines of Hellickson, Teheran or Taillon.
Hamilton is a stud and it could be three years before either prospect breaks through. imo Hamilton is worth a Hosmer/Montgomery or Moose/Lamb combo…..hey, that last one looks edible….

Deep Keeper League Advice

I am in the midst of my keeper league draft. The league has fairly standard rotisserie scoring. We have 35 players on the rosters at the moment and there are 15 teams. I am looking for some minor league sleepers of note. We have 9 more rounds left. To give you a context of how deep we are in terms of prospects, my last pick was Brandol Perez, SP, SEA. I was wondering what prospects you would recommend drafting for both short term and long term returns.

16 team auction with prospect draft

Hey Folks,

Looking for 1 more for a 16 team dynasty auction with prospects. Who would be interested? I’ve got some really experienced guys rolling already. This league is only for real competitors. You will get demolished if you don’t know what your are talking about. That being said, it will be friendly competition! The team is pretty blank still.

 email me at Jared.Calhoun@yahoo.com

Head to head…

6×6 standard plus OPS and Holds, daily

Roster sizes would be 40 majors leaguers, 25 minors

No fees!

Brand new dynasty league needs owners

we currently have 10 owners for a new cbssports-based dynasty league. it’s a points h2h league with 28 man mlb rosters and 30 milb spots.

pm me for more info if you’re interested. all 10 current owners are parts of 2 league i’m presently a part of, and have strong knowledge and high activity levels. no tools among the 10, either, which is a nice change of pace from most leagues.

New Dynasty Keeper League starting through FanGraphs/Ottoneu

Hey guys, I don’t know if any of you saw, but FanGraphs launched a cool new fantasy baseball product and I just started a new league but need some competition! It’s a $99 12 team linear-weight/points league where you have an auction draft and 40 man rosters with keepers/prospects, etc. (23 starters needed). It pays out 80% to the top three each season, which is significantly better than CBS, ESPN, etc. It is also a very unique game that I thought some people here might be interested in.

If you want to learn more about the league go here: http://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/support

Or, you can email me at jonathan.n.parker AT gmail DOT com with any questions!

Oops, I forgot to mention the league I started is called The League of Not So Gentlemen if you are looking for it. Aiming to start drafting next week.

One spot open for dynasty league

We’ve got one spot open for our 16 team dynasty. 25 man rosters with realistic contracts, and a 50 player minor league system per team. It’s free, so if someone is looking for a real challenge, shoot me an email and we’ll get you set up. The team that is open is right now a 10th-12th place team or so, but with the opportunity to be better.

NEED OWNER IMMEDIATELY

14 Team, 3 Division Keeper league in it’s 7th year needs 1 owner. $150 league fee.
- Salary league using real life salaries. ($105 mil cap)
- 15 major league keeepers, 15 minor leaguers kept each year.
- h2h, points, weekly transactions. (saves are only 4 points; holds are 2. dont sweat the pen)
- Quality starts 6 points, innings 1.1 point, wins 3.5. (Arroyo is a stud in our format.)
- Good crew of dudes. Mostly older. We prefer if you’ve graduated already. (Last guy had to choose between his spring break trip or this team. I don’t blame him.)

By the way....

…if you don’t like the composition of the roster, it’s very easy to trade. This team is loaded with highly liquid assets. Montero, Alvarez, Feliz, Anderson, Garza, Ethier and to a lesser extent Beckham, Duffy, Teheran, Dunn (due to salary) would garner enormous interest via trade.
