Baseball-Intellect: Orioles Top Prospects of 2011
For those interested, my Orioles top prospect list. Links are below:
Orioles Top Prospects, No's 1 - 5
Orioles Top Prospects, No's 6 - 15
Got to see Manny Machado in Aberdeen at the end of last and I love what I saw...used to be in favor of Givens as a pitcher, but I like what's he done with his mechanics at the plate and like Machado, I saw him in Aberdeen and liked what I saw.
Attrition, injuries, and graduations to the big league level just killed the depth of this system...and you can't compete in the AL East as a smaller market club and not have a deep system that is stockpiled with talent...or you may be able to compete at some point, but you can't attain a sustainable level of success over the long haul. It's something I feel this organization doesn't completely grasp yet. I'll be back later to respond to any feedback.

It seems like...
there is a big drop off after Britton and that is not a good thing. I still believe in Hobgood. I can see him becoming a #2 or #3 one day.
ETHAN MARTIN!!!!
it's true...
Huge drop off after Britton.
Not sure if I ever see Hobgood as being a No. 2…that was a stretch for him even before last year. If comes into camp in shape, and regains some of the velocity on his fastball, then he’ll climb back up the prospect lists.

No big complaints
Its a bad system atm.
The only player I would swap would be Mahoney for Bundy.
(I won’t say move Berry up, even though, as the president of his fake fan club I want to).
Klein isnt a spectacular “prospect”, but could be a pretty good MLB player for a long time.
Klein...
I think he’s underrated…he obviously has to prove he can stay healthy and handle the workload of starting, but he has four above average pitches with command/control, which you don’t see that often.
