+1 for Odorizzi

Any The Who completists &/or fans? Is it possible to even mention Jake’s last name without humming a certain tune from The Who Sell Out?

Tommy Milone

+1

He really deserves at least a little discussion. His numbers are legit over a large and progressive sample size.

by Mike Kaluk on Dec 9, 2011 8:20 PM EST up reply actions

From a recent BA article

puts Milone’s underrated performance in perspective:

“The rumored White Sox rebuild sprung to life with Chicago’s trade of dominating, cost-controlled closer Sergio Santos to the Blue Jays for 22-year-old righthander Nestor Molina, who finished the season with five starts in Double-A. Molina collected 9.3 strikeouts for every walk in 2011, and just two qualified minor league pitchers notched a higher ratio—lefties Tom Milone of the Nationals and Robbie Erlin of the Padres.”

Jungmann

Throws strikes, gets grounders, had consistent performance and health. 6 foot 6, 220. I almost went with Molina but, I like Jungmann’s upside more. I love guys who know how to attack hitters and, have command and courage.

There just seems something about the major guys on this ballot to dislike for me, at this point. I like Sampson, for instance but, I worry about shoulder issues with him. When in doubt I like the experience that guys who excelled in college baseball have. That is a tough environment to pitch in, generally.

I'm not a mechanics guy

But I hate Jungmann’s herky jerky throwing. It makes me cringe.

How many of these guys have the upside of a #1

And a grade of B+/A- from Sickels? Tyrell Jenkins. I can’t believe the names getting votes over him. Kelly?

by Traindogger on Dec 9, 2011 8:48 PM EST up reply actions

I’ve voted Jenkins the last couple rounds or so, but in then it’s a tough call for me – he’s just so far away, there’s so much that can go wrong. Odorizzi isn’t far behind for me, and I’ve thought about switching. But I agree on someone like Kelly, and Peacock’s in the same boat for me.

by MjwW on Dec 10, 2011 12:12 AM EST up reply actions

For me, I think I'd be fine with tossing a vote toward Jenkins, Syndergaard or Odorizzi

They’re all pretty damn close. I’ll go Jenkins again here because I’ve followed him closer and also because Odorizzi is probably gonna make it in anyway.
