Yep

He would slot in ahead of Wong. Not sure if I overlooked him or thought he was already on.

Lol

Maybe your subconciously made you realize that he cannot play very well? Either that or, he’s on the strangest path to major league stardom ever. Why would anybody think Hicks was better than Wong? It took Wong a game or two to figure out A ball pitching. Hicks? Still figuring it out I guess. Lol

No offense. We are all entitled to out opinions. I suppose I’m entitled to think some are funny too. Thanks for the laugh :)

Happy Holliday's everybody. Be safe and, enjoy! - Case

Three way tie at 6 right now

with 29 votes cast, or 20.6% each, almost half of the expected votes (66 last poll). This one is going be close, a possible three way run-off between Simmons, Wong, and Gyorko.

Lol

Getting geared up for the Iowa Caucauses a little early?

If this thing goes to a three way runoff, would it make sense to just put the winner and runner up as 41 and 42, respectively? Given the separation from the rest of the field?

I don't think so

We’ve seen a few instances this year where the loser of a runoff doesn’t automatically win the next round, but I don’t recall what auclairkeithbc did with the last three way runoff.

There’s been 2 other three-way runoffs for position players

At 12, it was Alonso, Starling, Lindor, who ended up going 12-13-14 (not order specific). They are all very close in the initial poll (16/15/14), with pretty significant separation from the next highest in the field.

At 15, it was Bogaerts, Rizzo and Tavares. They ended up 15-16-17, and again in the initial poll the lowest of the three was very clear of the next highest in the field.

So we have a similar situation here, where there’s 3 who are close together (and have been close together over the last several polls), but more importantly, significant distance on the field. Right now it’s 12-11-10, with the next highest at 3. Given the history, and the seperation, I think it’s doubtful anyone from the field would jump up above the second if these, and probably not the third either.

Anyway, it was just a suggestion to maybe avoid excessive repetition and have the ability to ultimately build a longer list. auclairkeithbc’s done a great job with this, and I’m sure whatever he does will be right.

If you have voters designate a second place vote when they put their +1 first place vote, as has been done previously, it accomplishs this. The votes if the 1st place winner are reallocated to their second place votes, and it just saves a voting round

by MjwW on Dec 31, 2011 1:18 AM EST up reply actions

Agreed

I think two of the three would win the next two spots, let the third one go back to a poll.

by cookiedabookie on Dec 31, 2011 10:47 AM EST up reply actions

I was specifically remembering Erlin losing runoffs

as an example of why we shouldn’t just add someone without forcing them to win a poll. This late in the polling process though, I’d be curious to see how many voters for the winner of this runoff would switch to one of the other runoff candidates and how many move onto other candidates altogether.(Though Simmons has dropped three votes off the pace so a three way runoff may be moot at this point)

Voting Closed

No need for a 3 way runoff. Wong and Gyorko have separated themselves enough from Simmons.
