"We did a lot of good things last year, and now we've got Julio ... That does nothing but improve the offense, and we expect to do better. That's our goal, to lead the NFL in everything. Every offensive category." -Roddy White

I like Gray
He is only five spots behind Dellin for me, and would have already been on if this were my list (#35 on my pitcher’s list). But give me the 6’8" guy over the 5’11" guy, and not just because of height. Betances is a year removed from being a top 25 pitching prospect, and maintain his strikeout abilities and his stuff while progressing to AAA. He took a hit in his BB-rate, which is why he is going to be lower this year, but his stuff is still great. But Gray hasn’t proven his stuff can translate to the pro game as a starter yet. Next year, he could jump up the rankings for me (although I have him higher than most already). I think they have similar floors as really good closers, but Dellin has a higher ceiling as a starter for me right now.

That covers it pretty well I think
though I’m not nearly as high on Gray as you. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if he can stick in the rotation, I think he’s pretty much a closer, though a pretty good one at that.

RIP Randy "Macho Man" Savage
I was pretty high on Gray coming out of college last year
and I do think he can stick in the rotation. But gotta gave Betances ahead right now.

Yeah
I don’t think Sonny Gray is a certainty to head off to the bullpen either. I thought his CH looked useable in college last year, & considering the quality of his FB/breaking pitch, he should get a legitimate shot to start. I guess there are delivery/overall command concerns too that some share, but Gray seems like the type who might move fast. It was only 20 innings or so, but he acclimated quickly to the Texas League in ‘11. I’m a little biased because I liked watching him so much I guess (& I doubt he’s even 5’11), but he’ll be tough not to root for.
