I like segura.
But his injury history scares me. The guy has played 2 whole season. the other 2 years in the minors have been cut short. 61 games in the DSL (age 17), at 18 played 11 total games, at 19 he played 43, at 20 130, and then at 21 52. I like the guy plenty, just can’t put him above Liriano due to health (at 17/ 67 games, at 18 / 50, at 19 / 117, at 20 / 131).

Thats a decent point
. . but, I’d take a look back at Jemile Weeks maybe? He was left for dead by a lot of prospect evaluators because of a series of nagging injuries in the minor leagues. Some would argue that this was justified or, could still come back and bite him in the big leagues. Others, like me probably, would argue that if you dinged hinm too harshly on the injuries – that have healed now, like Segura’s may – then you wouldn’t have been able to get him on your team or, rank him as highly as he deserved to be.
The question, for me, would be whether the injuries are really going to make a difference in how good Segura or Liriano are say, five years from now? I meen, I have no freakin’ idea of what that answer is but, it’s a good question right? lol
Happy Holliday's everybody. Be safe and, enjoy! - Case
I agree.
The major problem I have with Segura is that all of his injuries have been to his legs. For a guy that isn’t going to have his value tied to power but speed that to me is a major worry. It was the same thing that I thought of with Drew Cumberland of the Padres, he has the ability to play the position and the upside is impressive, but could not stay healthy. I really thought that Segura had turned the corner (so to speak) last year in that he was finally able to play most of a season.
Health is and should be a major concern, since it ultimately lowers his chance of being an impact talent at the major league level. That is not to say that you can overlook him since he is injury prone, but it gives me pause when a player a year younger and a season behind has played in more games.
