Seeing John’s grade almost makes me think he’s under-rated. Not yet 20, dominated Low A, 2 potential plus pitches, developing change, some more physical growth potential. Sure, he has to build stamina, develop the change, but for a young arm, he did about as good as they could hope for. I like Singleton, I do, despite my midseason comments, but I think Cole’s a potential front-line arm, and I could see him in AA by year’s end, potentially putting him on a track to knock on the door to the bigs in 2013.

Can people explain the Signleton love?

He was really good in rookie-ball but a his A+ wRC+ doesn’t look too impressive for a 1B (125 with Philly 135 with Houston). For comparison, Ike Davis put up a 145 wRC+ in A+ ball. Would you have ranked Davis (who was also a plus defender) a top-50 prospect? Is Singleton young for the level (he’s 20) or have a 80 power projection?

Knowing what we know now . .

Ike Davis obviously was one of the 50 best ballplayers in the minor leagues, any given season, before he was called up – obviously, since he’s a good big leaguer. BA had hinm at #64 before the 2010 season. I’m sure they’d tell you that was too low now.

Singleton was 19 all of last season and, if he’s 20 in AA by June of next year (or, to start the year for all I know), he is still way ahead of the curve. He doesn’t beed 80-grade power to be a top prospect.

nah

I’m biased for Cole, but I wouldn’t go A-. Strong B+ for me, though, and I often think I’m a touch more conservative than most on young talent, preferring to give “upper level bonuses” to guys. I’ll be the first to admit some viewer’s bias influencing things, I probably caught his strongest outings from this past season (just coincidence I guess).
