I’ve been watching this guy since his freshman year in college, and no one has ever given me a good reason why he can’t be a superstar besides the fact that he’s short. He has a great makeup, electric stuff with two plus pitches, strikes guys out, gets ground balls and pitched very well in a short stint in AA this year. The only knock on Gray is that sometimes he’ll get a little wild in spurts, but it seems like a mechanical thing that can be corrected by coaching.

Parker v Paxton
It;s not going to matter much here as Ben said below this but, I was all set to vote Parker but, here’s the thing. I’m not saying Parker isn’t better but, there isn’t much evidence that he is better then Paxton, is there?
I’m a little bit impressed that Paxton pitched in the same league as Paxton and dom-in-a-ted quite a bit more than Jarrod did. I know Parker is coming off the surgery but, at the same time Paxton didn’t have a surgery so, its hard to see that as a point in Parker’s favor.
Paxton went into the Southern League and beat Parker in almost every category and, K’d 4 more per nine! That is hard to explain away without a good reason for it, isn’t it? You could say Paxtyon is more polished, having pitched college ball but, een with the surgery Jarrod Parker has 345.2 pro innings and James Paxton has 112.2. Maybe Paxton is just better?
I’m going with the Mariner’s JP over the D’Back’s JP.

similar to how i feel about Paxton
i don’t think people realize how much the ability to strike out a ton of people in the Southern League translates to being a good major league pitcher

Totally agree
That is why I have Paxton at 10 on my pitcher’s list, and have been voting for him for the last couple polls (after Pomeranz got on).
