(Can I vote twice on testers?) If I can’t I’ll take Castellanos over Franklin

These aren't testers

These are official votes. I’ll count yours towards Castellanos, but neither is going to win this poll anyway.

Some names on my list that aren't mentioned anywhere here

Leonys Martin, Jonathan Schoop, Jean Segura, Starling Marte, Tim Wheeler, Gary Brown, Will Middlebrooks, and Derek Norris. That takes me into the 60’s on my overall list.

A few more

How about James Darnell, Matt Adams, Andrelton Simmons

Ugh...

don’t like these options. I didn’t realize until I saw this list start to flesh out just how thin the position player crop is this year.

Ya

it is pretty damn thin, or maybe its just the pitching is so stacked.

I don't see this

Every one of the cantidate on the cantidate list is a high-ceiling, mostly super-young talent except Yonder Alonso, who is a damned good hitter. Then you still have Frankin and HJ Lee – a couple of very solid major league SS prospects. I think it may be deeper than an avaerage year but, that the best ones aren’t in the upper minors.

Who should I be voting for

I really don’t like Sano and his K rate. Is he destined for 3B, or is even that up in the air.

If he’s going to move to OF, I might take someone like Alonso / Lindor / Cuthbert

by BigG'S on Nov 16, 2011 3:09 PM EST up reply actions

Taveras

Vote Oscar BigGs

Lets see, you considered the guy who was a level below Sano, the older lower-upside player Alonso, the one with zero experience Lindor, and finally the guy who wasn’t in the same class in the same league Cuthbert.

I like all of those guys but the 19 year old who hit .380 probably deserves some consideration here maybe?

Why is Sano ahead of Xander

Xander has a better BB% rate, K% rate and plays a more important position. Sano’s ISO is higher, but probably his power isn’t any better because he’s in rookie ball and Xander’s in A. Xander has the highest ISO of any 18 year old in the sally league ever other than MIke Stanton and Adrian Beltre. Xander is closer to the majors, has better BB rate and K rate, plays a more important position, is only 7 months older than Sano, and his power is probably the same. Don’t say scouting reports because Mike Newman at fangraphs is raving over Xander. Please tell me how this computes to Sano winning and Xander getting 2 votes.

by Bososx13 on Nov 16, 2011 4:56 PM EST reply actions

I'm calling this one

After 67 votes, Sano has a 25-8 lead on the next highest vote-getter. Next poll is going to probably be the most unpredictable poll yet this year.
