Rating Last year's rookies-Community Prospect #5
For a little while it looked like we might have our first runoff, and given the contrasting skill sets, Jennings vs. Ackley would have made for an interesting one. But, in the end Dustin Ackley pulled it out, making him our fourth best prospect for future performance among last year's rookies.
1. Brett Lawrie, 3b Toronto Blue Jays (51%)
2, Eric Hosmer, 1b Kansas City Royals (57%)
3. Michael Pineda, P Seattle Mariners (38%)
4. Dustin Ackley, 2b Seattle Mariners (41%)
The voting breakdown for the fourth round after Ackley was: Desmond Jennings 35%, Jeremy Hellickson 9%, Freddie Freeman 7%, Paul Goldschmidt 4%, Mike Moustakas 2%, Brandon Belt 2%, Jason Kipnis, Chris Sale, Kyle Drabek, Mark Trumbo and Zach Britton all at 0%
I'm going to keep everyone who got a vote (including Moustakas and Belt who were write in candidates last round) and drop everyone who didn't get a vote. We'll rotate back in Wilson Ramos (yes, I know what is going on but it is hardly a reason to take him off the ballot), Jordan Walden, and Craig Kimbrel.
In rotation: Aroldis Chapman 0% (round 3), Cory Luebke 0% (round 3), Jemile Weeks 0% (round 3), Dominic Brown 0% (round 3), Jason Kipnis 0% (round 4), Chris Sale 0% (round 40, Kyle Drabek 0% (round 4), Mark Trumbo 0% (round 4), Zach Britton 0% (round 4)
We'll give Danny Espinosa and Ivan Nova a first chance on the ballot this round. This leaves as testers for the upcoming rounds:
Brandon Beachy, Henderson Alvarez, Danny Duffy, Vance Worley, Josh Collmenter, Kenley Jansen, Jose Altuve, Lucas Duda and Dayan Viciedo.
As always voting is by +1 and there are places below to suggest testers or vote for players not currently on the ballot.
So, who is your #5 prospect for future performance among last year's rookies?

I just don’t like Jennings checkered injury history, and what exactly did Helli do to disappoint this year?

Love Jennings, but if we’re talking about future performance, I think an above-average bat at third is more valuable than a very good outfielder.

Yeah.
3B is lacking more than any other position.

Have his future just ahead of Jennings in my top 10. Certainly the best of the remaining pitchers.
Maybe certainly to you, but I've got to believe Hellickson would defeat him, and fairly easily, in a community vote.
Both are likely #3 starters
Alvarez has slightly more leeway to be a #2 if things break right. Rate both highly but reckon Alvarez’s groundball mix will last better in the AL East, though both have the control to be AL East fixtures for years.
I was planning on getting to him next round
but agree with Mr. Maniac that having the right starting pitchers on the ballot becomes a much bigger issue as soon as Hellickson wins a round as he is highly likely to be next.
Since when was Hellickson likely a #3 starter?
Like I said, you can believe that, but that is far from the consensus.

Mike Trout
I don’t know your definition of 2011 rookie, but Mike Trout?
Trout still has his rookie status
he is right up at the top of the community prospect list. Anyone on that list shouldn’t be on this list, and vica versa
