2012 PBP
Last year John gave out 21 ratings of A- or better. 11 hitters led by Bryce Harper and 10 pitchers headed by Jeremy Hellickson. Will this year's edition have more and less than last year's 21? I believe that it will be much less this year but would like to hear what the community thinks. Harper, Montero, Moore & Teheran would appear to be the only slam dunks at this point. Goldschmidt? Taillon? Bauer? Shelby Miller?

I'd think Goldy wouldnt be eligible, since you dont think Trout is
I’d probably give Goldy and A-, I love his power, and he raked in the playoffs, and didnt looked overmatched in the regular season either

Both Trout & Goldy are ineligible
Both surpassed 130 ABs in 2011.
Aw dammit...I was looking at PAs, not ABs
Goldy is still over the limit, but Trout is not…
Trout
I didn’t re-fresh myself on John’s AB/IP limit before constructing that post but I assumed that Trout would no longer elgible although I now see that he only appeared in 40 games. He’s a straight A for me. I didn’t think that Goldschmidt got into many game but see now that he was in 48. Thanks for the note Mathisrocks.
If JS goes by standard limits...
It’s 130 ABs or 50 IP.
Profar will definitely have at least an A-
Perez might have an A- too
Just don't piss her off, otherwise she'll get all Dien Bien Phu up in your Boxer Rebellion - caknuck
I think Profar should get a straight A
along with Shelby Miiller

I think Profar gets the A
but possible make-up issues with Miller could leave him at an A- for this year.

probably going to prove to be a rather unique grade

For what its worth I have 11
1. Julio Teheran
2. Matt Moore
3. Shelby Miller
4. Bryce Harper
5. Jurickson Profar
6. Jesus Montero
7. Manny Machado
8. Mike Trout
9. Gerrit Cole
10. Jameson Taillon
11. Jacob Turner
Only included 1 guy from this draft because I personally haven’t seen Bundy, Hultzen, Bauer, Bradley, etc. I think most of these grades don’t spark a lot of controversy with the exception of Turner, which I will admit, is aggressive. Some other I considered strongly were Rendon, Sano, D’ Arnaud, Jake Odorizzi, Bubba Starling, and Martin Perez.

If Montero gets an A I would think Mesoraco would also have to
Bit I would like to add – Nice list! I like it.
Well
While I personally agree, but John said (again this was all preliminary .. stuff for lack of a better word) in the Twins post that he was leaning towards giving Sano an B+

Travis D'Arnaud
might have an outside chance at a grade in the A range
Taijuan Walker and Carlos Martinez too
though both seemed to wear down a bit over the course of the season
I agree on d'Arnaud
With his performance/level/age and playing good defense at a premium position, I think he would be an A- guy.
Others
Mesoraco?
HJ Lee?
Skaggs?
Eagerly waiting to hear the Cox to Wong to Pujols double play call.

What about
Taijuan Walker? I feel like John is fairly high on him.
Also I’d bet we see quite a few A- or A grades from this years draft.
It might depend on medical reports, but Rendon definitely has a shot. I feel like Bauer and Hultzen have very good shots from the college ranks to go along with Cole. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Bundy or Bradley, with I think Bundy getting the nod as an A- guy. I don’t think Bubba Starling has a chance. Nolen Arenado and Zach Wheeler may have outside chances.
Alot will depend on scouting reports from various sources that John gets before the lists become final. A good report could be the difference that bumps up that borderline B+ to an A-.

I thought John already said that Bauer is a Grade A
Also, I’m sure Pomeranz will be at least an A-.
If Montero is eligible
Then Minor should be too
Why has no one mentioned Machado? He and Profar should both be A- at minimum
Jacob Turner
Martin Perez
Skaggs
Mesoraco
From this years draft
Bauer and Cole (maybe Bundy and Bradley, but Im guessing bundy is a B+ based on age)
Rendon is another one that will be close
well, Taillon got a B+ last year as the top prep arm
and you can argue Bundy is a more polished product, but he does probably get a B+ because he doesnt have any pro data

Mike Trout
had just 123 AB in 2010. Should be considered a rookie in 2012.
