Twins purchase contract of Ben Revere
Not much to say about this except that he's probably going to function as a late inning defensive sub/pinch runner, though I must be honest in saying this makes no sense. He's probably not ready and they just burned through an option to bring him up. They have other options in AAA who are more likely to contribute in some manner, such as Jacque Jones or Dustin Martin. I'm wondering if this is to showcase him, but other than that, this move makes little sense.

Not so fast my friend
No team burns through an option to bring a player up, just to send a player down. Neither of the Twins’ top two affiliates are playoff-bound so, if Revere was to continue playing after this weekend, Minnesota was the most likely destination.
With Cuddyer needed at first base, Revere may be one of the Twins’ five best available outfielders, anyway. Jones? Martin? Players like that are why neither of the Twins’ top two affiliates are playoff-bound and Revere’s skills— while not necessarily fully developed— are better-suited to situations where a fifth outfielder would likely be employed.

Brandon Roberts is better than Jason Repko though IMO
I called on the exact pitch - Joe Mauer's first career Home-Run at Target Field !!!
Why Oh Why did the D'Backs select A.J. Pollock over Mike Trout?

if there's "not much to say about this"
Then why did you make a fanpost for it?
Anyways, trying to salvage . . .underrated player. Not saying he’s a star in the making . . .but I think he has a chance to be a pretty decent regular for a while.
wow surprised by this move
but it will only be for September,
i could see him getting quite a few starts down the stretch too maybe even from the leadoff spot…

AA straight to big leagues
definitely is not the Twins way
but Gardenhire i believe, requested this move, tough to say no to the manager at the moment with the Injuries the MLB club has had – Morneau, Nathan (Still) Kubel, Punto, Baker, Slowey, Fuentes, Capps, Orlando Hudson is continually on and off the field JJ Hardy is playing, but with a sore wrist and balky knees… Mauer still has a bothersome shoulder.
The Playoffs don’t look good for the Twins….

They didn't burn an option...
Purchasing a player’s contract does not use an option year if he spends the whole rest of the year on the major league team (as one would expect Revere to do).
It’ll burn off a small amount of service time, and I suppose it’ll force them to use an option next year when they might not have had to, but those consequences are fairly minor.
"We don't want our people to be preoccupied with seminude, crazy men jumping up and down who are chasing an inflated object," said Sheik Mohamed Osman Arus, head of operations for the Hizbul Islam insurgent group.
Options
It’s September, there are no options anymore; there is no longer a 25-man active roster limit.
He also might need to be added to the 40-man roster this year anyway to protect him from rule 5. Most HS players drafted in 2007 would be exempt another year. But Revere was already 19 when drafted/signed.
I thought about this later on
Yeah, you guys are right. No options are burned, and somewhere I read that he’s going on the 40 this fall anyways or they risk losing him to rule 5. He’s not my favorite player by anymeans, and I think he’s way overrated. I’d probably have rather seen Joe Benson get called up whose also in AA and a better player (though I’m not sure if he’s eligible this fall) or Brandon Roberts.
Definitely not a Twins move, though most of their injuries are not severe (sans Morneau obviously)…
