Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Minor Leagues August 27Th, 2010

For Nats fans and Strasburg fans, I mourn with you today. It's a bummer. These things sting less as you get older - for US fans I meen - and it's easier to look on the bright side. Opening day 2012 is 20 months away and if Stras puts his all into rehab like he did into making himself a great pitcher at SDSU and in the big leagues, he'll come back as good as ever, or at least close.

AAA - Yunesky Maya makes his AAA debut. He could be part of the Nats rotation in 2012 as well., Carlos Carrasco, Hector Noesi makes AAA debut as well, Jay Jackson

AA Ball - Andrew Brackman, Elih Villanueva; tell me what you know about him, outsatnding numbers, Wily Peralta v Josh Collmenter, Ma'IN Perez, Tyler Chatwood

A+ or lower - Jacob Turner, Aaron Crow; get your shit together man! , Pat Corbin, Aaron Miller; did NOT enjoy his AA experience, Tanner Bushue v Andre Rienzo; WSox' Brizillian sleeper

Matt Magill SP dodgers going today, 20 years old, 31st round pick in 09

interesting prospect 6’3 190… tall and slender….. not really a top prospect coming into the year, but has put himself in top 10 dodger prosepct discussion…

Season stats: 115 IP, 80 H 50 BB 119 Ks 11 HR allowed pitching in low A midwest league

only gave up 59 hits in 72 innings last year so hes been hard to hit.. but with only 55 Ks last year

J.J. Hoover

going today as well. In July/August, he’s pitched 58.2 innings, with 64 K, 17 BB, a 2.15 ERA and 0.82 WHIP. How are all these prospects going to shake out?

today

5IP, 2H (single and triple), 2R, 9K, 2BB.

This was his 2nd start at AA. Now for July/August he has 73 K and 19 BB in 63.2 IP.

Carlos Carrasco

7IP, 5H (1 double, 4 singles), 1R, 6K, 1BB. Has been on fire for quite some time now. This is probably his last AAA start of the year, as he’s going to be called up in Sept. Might be his last minor league start ever. We’ll see. If he stays under the 50 IP mark (he’s at 22 now), and doesn’t get crushed in the majors, he’ll be a sure-fire top 100 prospect, with a shot to creep into my top 50 (he’d have to look pretty good in Sept to get there though).

by auclairkeithbc on Aug 27, 2010 10:26 PM EDT reply actions

we'll see on him

The question with Carrasco has never been if he had the stuff to be a good pitcher, he’s just been VERY streaky and inconsistent.

I think I might have mentioned this one before, but I suspect there’s more than a little Javy Vazquez in him.

by mrkupe on Aug 27, 2010 11:31 PM EDT up reply actions

well

he’s probably on the best streak of his life. and this is probably the best time for it to happen…at a pretty age appropriate time to settle into a major league job.

Sizzling

Josh Reddick had a single, a double, and a three-run homer in the 9th off Anthony Slama.

Pierre has learned how to hit in the last month

Seen him three times, much much better approach now compared to when I saw him in June. In June he was swinging for the fences on everything…

So which five years does he win two Gold Gloves?

I mean it has to be a 20 year career right, he only won 20 MVP’s. And where is his ROY trophy? Way to sell the guy short.

HBP in the 1st inning. Batted in the 3rd, left in the 5th (Michael Taylor pinch hit for him). I don’t know yet if he’s injured.

Aaron miller (back in High A)

7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 Ks 7:7 GO:FO

dodgers messed up by promoting him agreesivley to AA but they smartly put him back to a+ ball in just his first full season of pitching
