Sean Rodriguez Tampa Bay Rays
What is his short term and long term outlook with the Rays? He has looked Great at times, and very average. Is he apart of their plans moving forward in 2011? Give me your thoughts and Ideas! Thanks!

Masson loves him
Numerous quotes as to what a fine I instinctive player S-Rod is.
He should see a lot of PT in the 2nd half

Impressed with power and defense
and they love the bat vs. lefties. His discipline disappearing is a concern though, considering his high walk rates in the minors. Definitely not acceptable when coupled with his high strikeout rate. He will play consistently vs. lefties this year, and should get consistent playing time at 2B starting next year
Thanks!
Do you think they let Bartlett go and let Brignac SS and S-Rod play 2B next year?

Yes

I would, but given how averse they've been to playing Brignac since Bartlett has come back, it isn't a gaurantee
A theory to Bartlett playing is that he Rays are trying to rebuild his trade value. I would be surprised not to see a lineup along the lines of this by opening day next year:
C – Jaso
1B – ?? Free Agent
2B – SRod
SS – Brignac
3B – Longoria
LF – Jennings
CF – Upton
RF – Zobrist
DH – Joyce/Aybar
yes, you do waste Joyce’s above average defense in a corner by DHing him, but not much you can do unless a deal for Upton can be found (then Jennings plays center with Joyce in a corner with a free agent at DH.
Zobrist
Will get some time at 2B and Joyce would then be in RF. I also expect Aybar to get some time at 1B next year. I agree that Bartlett is gone and Brignac will be the everyday SS.
I still think the Rays will sign one of Crawford or Pena. I would rather Crawford signs. If this is the case, I would hope BJ is gone and Jennings gets the CF job.

Saw Rodriguez last Sunday in person.
Homered against Nick Blackburn, though it was on a ball that came off the bat looking like an average flyball to the left fielder. Carried into the first row. Can’t glean a lot from a single game of course, but he showed good athleticism and a nice swing, though he was off balance a lot. Definitely doesn’t read Major League secondaries very well.
