Couple of Questions
Hey John and Minor League Ball readers, this is Brandon C., a writer for the Yankees SB Nation blog, Pinstripe Alley. Wanted to ask a few questions about the Yankees system.
1. How's Pat Venditte doing in high A this season and when may he be promoted to Trenton? Are the Yankees and will the Yankees give him a fair shot.
2. Why is Brandon Laird having such a great season? Is this legit or is he playing over his potential and will slow down?
3. If you had to rank the Yankees infielders (Reegie Corona, Eduardo Nunez, Kevin Russo, Ramiro Pena) how would you rank them from best overall prospect to worst?

1) Pat Venditte has struck out 51 in 42 innings. 9 walks and an ERA under 2. Most of the time, he does pitch 2 innings at a time. I don’t expect him to be promoted to Trenton for awhile. They are already carrying an extra reliever. There are 6 other relievers preparing for a spot in Trenton alongside him. He could be there at the end of August or for the playoffs if the Yankees promote some guys, which they rarely do. Most likely case is that he starts next season there.
2) Your guess is as good as mine here. He was unbelievable in the Arizona Fall League and I guess that carried over. I don’t recall reading about a swing change or anything. I think most people will agree that he is likely a bench player at the ML level still so I’ll go with the second option that he will slow down.
3) Ed Nunez, Kevin Russo, Ramiro Pena, Reegie Corona
(As a Yankee fan, I want to see Russo as a utility though because Nunez lack versatility)
Thanks!
I really want to see what Venditte can do in AA but as you said it doesn’t seem like it’s coming too soon. Agree with the utility ranking and Laird has been a very pleasant surprise

Why do you care?
They’ll just be traded with a ton of cash for a superstar once they’re good.
Unlike most Yankees fans
I actually care about developing prospects and not trading away the future every year. Not all Yankees fans are bandwagoners that couldn’t name one player outside of the MLB team. Don’t lump Yankees fans that actually know their stuff and the others together
