Predictions for Signings Next Week

As I said in the bonus predictions entry, over slot bonuses should start being approved and announced starting today if teams are ready with their physicals, and next week the signings should start in earnest.

If you read the article about Kellen Sweeney posted in the fanshot below, you'll see that his deal was officially approved by MLB on Wednesday, the same day I got a tip that over slot bonuses of the smaller variety will start getting approval. I'm guessing this is no coincidence, and now it's just a matter of getting those players who agreed to those bonuses in for physicals, which is why Sweeney's official signing won't be until Monday or Tuesday. His physical might be a little more complicated than most, as he's less than a year removed from Tommy John surgery, but I could see a number of signings announced next week. The following list is my guess of which contracts will be approved and signed next week.

Erik Goeddel, RHP, Mets
Kellen Sweeney, 3B, Blue Jays
Shane Opitz, SS, Blue Jays
Zach Cates, RHP, Padres
Jarrett Parker, OF, Giants
Ben Wells, RHP, Cubs
Austin Wates, 2B, Astros
Jordan Swagerty, RHP, Cardinals
Andrew Toles, OF, Marlins
Aaron Shipman, OF, Athletics
Matthew Grimes, RHP, White Sox
Chance Ruffin, RHP, Tigers
Dixon Anderson, RHP, Orioles
Rob Segedin, 3B, Yankees
Griffin Murphy, LHP, Blue Jays

This isn't a list that is set or anything, but this is about my expectation for the next week and a half or so. There could be a few more and a few here could hold out a bit longer, but my feeling is that these are the most likely to actually ink an official contract in the next 10 days.
