Home Run Derby?
Do people really watch this thing? I mean, you people, the (usually) educated baseball fans of America. Is it something you actually care about? What if no one from you favorite team is in it?
I ask, cause every year I say to myself "I'm not gonna watch this stupid thing" and yet, but 15 minute mark I've got it up on my tv and wind up watching till the end, then hating myself for it.
So, do you watch?

Not a fan of the Derby, to be honest.
Frankly, I get more excited about crazy defensive plays than I do about huge homers.
I like baseball.
I write for Beyond the Box Score and The Hardball Times Fantasy
Maybe they should have a fielding contest
like in the game The BIGS! I’d watch that!

My only issue is that it drags on way too long.
They are given too many outs and it gets kinda boring after the first bunch of HRs.

pretty much like you
I try not to, but usually end up watching some. But after a couple rounds it gets incredibly boring.

it doesn't ruin my life if I can't watch it
but if I don’t have plans I definitely look forward to watching it. I’m exited to see what Chris Young and Hanley Ramirez can do tonight, although I like Miggy to win it all.
I like to watch it
But after its taped with DVR, that way I can fast forward through all the fluff.
That's what I'm doing, lol

I watch it, but really don't care.
I just love the game of baseball!
I love the Derby
Doesn’t matter who’s announcing, who’s competing, I love long ball. Steroids or not the steroid era was one of the most fun periods of baseball to watch for me. Home runs are awesome.
When we have a Josh Hamilton/Bobby Abreu/Mark McGwire-type performance everyone loves it, but there’s always a one or two year period (like last year) where it’s a little bland and boring for people so they end up down on it and say it drags on too long. Then we get a monster performance and everyone loves it again. I’m betting on Matt Holliday to give us that monster performance this year.

I love seeing how far these guys can hit one.
2 Things
1. Erin Andrews is very hot
2. Soul Sister is the worst choise for a opening song and the singer sucks

okay
Never again are we letting Chris Berman be in the same building as Corey Hart.
He has a hard-on for Hart

well you know, he's got a lot of Hart!
He had a Hart-to-Hart talk with Corey Hart before the Home Run Derby, didn’t you hear?
Damn very impressive. Hit one 469

i have usually always
watched it, but this year i am not. Without Pujols, Howard or Hamilton, i dont even care…i fear the homerun derby will now become like the Slam Dunk Competition…
That was awesome before this year's catastrophe?

Could have gone. .
passed on a free ticket, didn’t watch. Don’t really understand how Berman gets all excited about a guy who hits a BP home run. I was even more surprised that people were showing up to the softball game but passed on the Futures game that was played before it.
I am a true knucklehead, though.
I watched the Derby but didn’t realize that the Strasburg game was getting reaired in the DC Metro area last night. I was at the debut, and I would have wanted to see it on TV to get a better idea of how nasty his stuff was.
On a desperate search for Sunshine at Nats Park.
I think its fun to watch and I get to see some players that I wouldn't have known about otherwise.
