One of the big things that I took away from yesterday's thread on the Future's Game was how surprised that some people were by how good Zach Britton is.
And now I must beg the question, "Why was everyone so surprised?"
Seriously, I never understood why some people didn't see Britton as a stud prospect. I mean, going beyond his mid-season rankings (BA: No. 10, Piliere: No. 13, Law: No. 16), he's been putting up great numbers in the upper minors.
Oh, and his stuff? How about the best power sinker in the minors, a plus slider, and a constantly improving change-up that projects as average? Oh, and he's left-handed with solid command as well?
I'd just really love to know why some people didn't buy into this guy before, because when you see him light it up to 94 with a hard sinker, follow it up with a quality slider, and then rear back and hit 96 with a four-seamer, I don't know why you'd be down on this guy.
Britton's one of my favorite arms in the minors, and I think that his performance in the Future's Game was a bit of a "Oh, wow..." moment for some people with Britton.
I don't know about you guys, but Britton excites the hell out of me, and I was just curious as to why he didn't garner that same kind of excitement from a lot of the commenters here until after yesterday's performance.
